Wolves signing a striker from the Baggies? It'll never work!

In all seriousness I got a sense of de ja vu when Jason Roberts was linked with a return to Molineux this weekend. But as I proved, if you bang in the goals it doesn't matter where you come from - the Wolves fans will still love you.

The one question I'd ask about Jason though, is "Can he do it in the Premiership?" and if you look at last season with Albion the answer would have to be no. I knew him a bit during his first time at Molineux and although he was very young you could tell then that he was a promising talent. Since that he's scored goals. But it's alright doing it in the Third, Second and First Division like we both have.

What Wolves need now is a striker who can cope with all the pressure and do it in the top flight - and a couple of other players with Premiership experience too. You never know Roberts might be the man who can, but all the evidence so far sadly suggests that he can't.

Then there's the supporters. I think their reaction would be mixed to Dave Jones signing a Hawthorns cast off - even if we did have him first. It was different in my day because back then there wasn't as much hatred between the clubs as there is now. The only stick I used to get was from the Albion fans when I went back there and scored a goal or two.

Wolves fans took to me straight away because I opened my account fairly quickly and never looked back from there.If Jason was to come back I feel he'd have to hit the goal-trail straight away to win the fans over otherwise he could be in for a tough old time as fans today are less forgiving.

One player I do like the look of is Henri Camara, who has settled a lot sooner than some of the other foreign lads and looks skillful and dangerous. I don't know whether those orange boots are a deliberate tribute to his new club's colours, but if he lets his feet do the talking and adds composure in front of goal to his game then he could become a real fans favourite.

Saturday's point against Portsmouth was vital going into the international break because it gives us something to build on.We've played three games and although we've had a difficult introduction at least we now know what the Premiership's about.
